Job Details

US Bank is looking for an accomplished and passionate technology leader to support the Data Science team within Technology Strategy &Enterprise Data Management (TS&EDM). Desired leader will be an individual contributor working with a small team of professionals that are the Trusted Advisors aligned to each of the senior members of TS&EDM. This unique incumbent must have working knowledge of big data analytical techniques such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and neural network methodologies, natural language processing and data science architecture to be able to provide appropriate guidance and oversight. Incumbent will identify controls or potential gaps and be able to document them so that others understand as well. The incumbent needs to understand the technology elements utilized in data science to act as a translator between the science team, audit and the Enterprise. They will need to identify controls or potential gaps but are responsible for describing, evidencing and ensuring a secure environment. Technologies are changing quickly, we need to incent people to think differently and provide thought leadership in a controlled environment.

This position is responsible for developing quality standards and process improvement initiatives through the use of measurements, risk and control evaluation, accountability, and analysis in order to achieve best practices. The role ensures appropriate identification and response to risks within the business, and coordinates efforts to foster awareness and understanding of key risk management concepts within the business management network.



  • Trusted 1 st Line of Defense Advisor
  • Translate technology findings into actionable business insights and recommendations and effectively communicate these results to key stakeholders
  • Partner with risk management teams to evaluate business opportunities.
  • Interface with internal and external resources to ensure successful and timely cooperation in accordance with user needs
  • Collaborate with ISS and Audit
  • Help to enable technology changes and provide oversight of controls
  • Develop process maps of identified high level and detailed processes
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes
  • Identify Risks, Controls and Gaps and address through completion
  • Support identification, development, and management of key process metrics that will effectively identify current and predictive performance against key objectives
  • Document and maintain operational policies and procedures, including documenting detailed process flows



  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Five to seven years of risk management experience
  • One or more years of managerial/supervisory experience
  • Master's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in project management and leadership activities
  • Advanced Level working knowledge in statistics, finance, economics (with a focus of applied econometrics), applied and computational mathematics, and other disciplines in physical sciences or engineering that require heavy use of computational mathematics and/or statistical techniques

Team Objective

This team is critical to our overall success in the Technology Strategy and Enterprise Data Management organization. We are driving a great deal of change through the strategies we are defining, as well as our partnership with Technology Delivery and Infrastructure. This team’s role is to support each of the TS&EDM as the 1 st Line of Defense armed with focused skill sets that can drive process optimization, develop appropriate control levels, and focus on relationships across other groups when it comes to policies, processes, and gaps. As we are innovating with new technologies, we are also innovating with new capabilities and processes. Those efforts require strong relationships and guidance across teams such as Risk, CAS, OCC, ISS, and Technology Delivery and Infrastructure. We will have accountability to develop new processes, create policies in areas such as data and cloud, which will be enterprise level.
