Function/Purpose:


The Data Scientist will work as part of the Advanced Analytics and Data Science team as well as with stakeholders across the organization to enable data-driven decisions. This person’s primary responsibility will be to expand the pool of data stakeholders can use for analysis. The Data Scientist will architect, implement, and maintain an Advanced Analytics data ecosystem covering on-prem and external data sources that are both structured and unstructured. The Data Scientist will also help execute the roadmap for Analytics within Hasbro and conduct analysis for strategic Analytics projects to help Hasbro’s brands achieve profitable growth.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write routines to clean and prepare data for analysis. Ensure data can be easily loaded into analytical tools. Establish and maintain connections to various data sources. 
  • Develop a data model incorporating both Hasbro internal and third-party data. Identify data sources and catalog metadata. Understand relationships between datasets. Maintain and update data model as new data sources are identified. 
  • Advise on appropriate infrastructure and tools for data storage, ingestion, preparation, and maintenance. Understand how business requirements map onto infrastructure needs and toolset. 
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Architecture team to translate business requirements into detailed specifications and architecture plans.
  • Maintain and modify Advanced Analytics architecture plan to accommodate new technologies as well as existing and future datasets. Create business process flows for on-boarding new data sources. 
  • Conduct analysis. Leverage descriptive and exploratory techniques, text analytics, and statistical methods to help answer business questions. Communicate results to other members of the Advanced Analytics team. 



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related technology field
  • B.S. in a quantitative field (e.g., data science, computer science, engineering), advanced degree/MBA preferred
  • Hands-on experience with next generation data storage tools and methods (e.g., NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, SAP HANA) as well as associated data modeling tools
  • Ability to use at least one of the common data science scripting languages (R, Python, Scala, Go) 
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of a data preparation tools (e.g., Alteryx, Informatica, Teradata)
  • Experience with major cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills, must be able to design and optimize queries and create data structures
  • Knowledge of statistical package like R, SAS, SPSS, Matlab, Knime, Rapidminer a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – experience working with business stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Strong project management capabilities, able to coordinate multiple projects and prioritize a variety of incoming requests
