The Team

Cisco Commerce Analytics platform needs an Data Science Engineer to design & build the analytics platform.

Business insights, recommendation and analytics is key focus to enable and operationalize new business models and existing commerce business

This position is for an senior IT Engineer for the Architecture & Engineering function in the Cisco Commerce IT Organization. You will be instrumental in helping transform Cisco into the #1 IT company in the world by envisioning Cisco's next generation commerce platform and helping to make it a reality.

The position involves playing a very active role in design and delivery of Commerce Analytics Platform for Cisco. The Cisco Commerce platform processes Cisco's 48 Billion revenue.


Role & Responsibilities

The Candidate will design and implement web based systems/applications using Big Data Technologies like Cassandra, Spark, Hadoop and programming languages like Scala.

You will help build the data analytics platform and frameworks to enable business to make data driven decisions and provide business insights. Design and build recommendation engines, which will help increase Cisco cross-sell and up-sell by providing product, service and SaaS recommendations.

Help transform the vision and strategy into executable platform and frameworks. Perform design, coding and implementation for cross-functional systems. Assist with tool selection and strategic direction of tools, systems and software packages. Works with a team of Architects Tech Leads and engineers involved in development of commerce platform capabilities for Cisco products, software and services. Partner closely with cross functional team to work on technical solutions, recommend and ensure proper technical alternatives have been considered. Recognized expert in multiple technological fields of specialization outside of the organization. Function as the highest level of technical resource. Resolve and consult on the most complex issues.

Good understanding of all current technologies and good understanding of emerging technologies. Good understanding of business impact of technology. Requires a strong background SW design, and implementation preferably on Analytics and Data Science projects.


Desired Skills

  • Strong expertise in Big Data Technologies like Cassandra, Spark, Hadoop and programming languages like Scala.
  • Very strong UI skills to build highly intuitive dashboards and reports using UI frameworks like Polymer, Angular.js, Google Charts and D3 Charts is a must.
  • Expertise in Java, J2EE, Web 2.0 technologies, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery, CSS, HTML5 and Apache
  • Having Data Science certification/any related course will be a big plus
  • Strong problem solving skills and technical aptitude
  • Experience using source code control (CVS, PVCS, JIT or SVN)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent with 10 plus years experience in a software development. Masters or PhD is strongly preferred.
