Job Details

The Challenge

The Adobe Document Cloud Data team is looking for experienced machine learning engineers to help us unlock value and meaning from the millions of documents stored in our cloud.

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for machine learning and statistical methods. They will have strong experience building production systems. The Data team will be working with our research lab and multiple other teams within the Document Cloud, so a history of collaborating across multiple organizations is very helpful. We will be working in Java, C++, Python (PyData), R and related technologies. Extensive experience using cloud services like Amazon and/or Azure a major plus.

This is a full-time role located in San Jose, CA

About the Team

The Document Cloud Data team is made up of engineers and data scientists intensely focused on the problem of analyzing PDF (and other formats):

  • The information is richly formatted, but very challenging to work with
  • We are deploying deep learning solutions to approach the problem from first principles
  • Our projects have CTO level visibility

About the Role

As a key member of the group, you will have the opportunity to shape our ML strategy:

  • Develop high precision classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, regression and rule-based based models
  • Work on projects involving CNNs, RNNs, and other deep reinforcement learning models
  • Apply expert software development skills to a wide range of ML-related projects
  • Participation in external conferences, especially as a presenter
  • Help us build a large corpus of documents for detailed analysis
  • Help us build our production analysis service, scaling to millions of users and billions of documents
  • Develop algorithms to understand the structure of documents in a variety of formats
  • Analyze the performance of various experiments and competing algorithms
  • Work with Adobe’s research teams to take the state of the art in research and make great products and features

There are ample opportunities to collaborate with the entire research and engineering community here at Adobe. Every two years, we gather for The Adobe Technical Summit, where we give papers, unconference, listen to main stage speakers and generally have a blast. In between, we have a Machine Learning summit, a Senior Scientists Summit, and a number of other opportunities to collaborate.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science or related technical field or BS with 2+ years of applied machine learning experience
  • Strong background in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, classifiers, large-scale data mining or artificial intelligence
  • Strong experience deploying systems into production, at scale
  • Experience with Torch, Caffe, MxNet, TensorFlow or other ML frameworks, GPU programming
  • Performed cutting edge research in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, potentially including publications
  • Open Source contributions
  • Great communication skills

At Adobe, you will be immersed in an exceptional work environment that is recognized throughout the world on Best Companies lists. You will also be surrounded by colleagues who are committed to helping each other grow through our unique Check-In approach where ongoing feedback flows freely.
